Strong Roast Stout
You will need:
- 1 x MJ Craft Series Roasted Stout
- 1 Kg Stout Combo

This is a rich and thick, toasty stout. Put it down today and let it mature! Add a Dark Ale Grain Kit to add that hint of Chocolate.
- 1 Kg of Liquid Amber Malt
- 1 x Stout Grain Kit
- 15g EK Goldings Hop Pellets @ 10mins
- 15g Fuggles Hop Pellets @ 5 mins
- 15g EK Goldings Hop Pellets @ 0 mins
Procedure:
- In advance of preparing recipe, chill 5-10 litres of water in the fridge.*
- Steep Stout Grain Kit in a bowl with 1 litre of hot tap water for 30 minutes.
- Strain grain through sieve into saucepan and rinse with 1 litre of hot water into the saucepan.
- Bring grain wort to boil, add one 15g EK Goldings Hops and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the Fuggles Hops to saucepan and simmer for a further 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add the remaining 15g EK Goldings Hops. Steep for 5 minutes.
- Use the hot wort mixture to dissolve contents of the Roasted Stout satchel, Stout Combo and Liquid Malt in fermenter.
- Top up to 23L using chilled and cold water to reach a starting temperature of 20-24°C, stirring vigorously to aerate the wort.
- 9. Add the provided MJ Kit Yeast, seal fermenter and store in cool conditions **
Notes:
* Use sanitised containers with lids. Use chilled water to reach pitching temperature and add yeast immediately.
** Try to maintain a cool, even temperature in the fermenter, ideally 20°C. Place your fermenter next to brick walls or on a cement slab. Put fermenter in a container, add some water, wrap it in a towel with one end in water, if the temperature is too high. Use a Brewers Choice Brewing Thermostat and old fridge for optimum brewing conditions.
