Stewarts Journey Overseas

Happy Days, its holiday time!

I’m off to the U.K. for just over a month.

It’s been almost 5 years since I had a real holiday and this will only be my second time out of the country.   It will be my first “real” long haul flight –  I’m not really looking forward to 24 hours in a plane. (I hope they’ve got some good craft beers on board!)

I’m going to visit a few of the usual sights, but with so much to do over there, is there ever enough time to do them all?

While out and about on my travels I’m going to visit as many home brew stores, breweries, cider makers and distillers as I can. Hopefully I can get some hints and tips and maybe some gadgets that will help us all to brew better!

I’ll also be visiting some cheese makers, butchers and farmers along the way, so I’m sure to pick up some tips (and hopefully a secret recipe or two).  And to top things off I’ll be there for the annual hop harvest so hopefully I’ll be able to jump on board for a day’s picking just for the fun of it.

Of course, while in Scotland one MUST do a whisky trail or two or three, and hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands dirty in a small distillery with the experts of the craft!

So dodgy camera, free Wi-Fi (and not too many stonking hangovers) permitting, I’ll be posting some photos and wild ramblings along the way.  Hope you enjoy the letters home.
